Listen to your body!

The importance of listening to your body is vital to health! I just started a ritual of tuning in every morning to hear what my body has to offer (yes with my stethoscope!)

Sometimes that is all your body or anybody needs, sometimes more. Acknowledgment with deep compassion and understanding energetically allows the body to calm itself. This is a great way to reset the vagus nerve as well.

The first thing to do is find a quiet space where you can tune in and turn off the mind. If you don't have a stethoscope, no problem! Just place your hand over your heart to feel the connection and send love to yourself. Feel the warmth being emitted from your hand then you can explore what comes up for you next.

Does your body talk to you? Can you feel or hear the heartbeat? Does your chest expand when you breathe? Can you slow down your inhales and extend your exhales pausing in between? How does that make you feel? These are all questions to bring you back into your body.

It isn't always easy to connect. It does take practice. It is similar to meditation which is more about calming or clearing the mind, but that seems to be rather difficult for some. When I use to teach meditation to beginners, sometimes I would do guided meditations either walking through a forest to find the pool of water then stop to really look at their reflection and see what thoughts came up. When I would teach a yoga class, just before savasana, I might have them tense and release every part then visualize going into the body to check on all organs and cells until everyone was either completely connected to their inner self or they fell asleep. Other times, I might use a sound like "Om" or mantra like "I am love" until it simply resonated so deep that there was no denying people were in tune with their higher self, as they radiated peace.

For private sessions, I would often recommend repeating the ho'oponopono until they could feel it by saying out loud or in their mind: "I am sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you." Then have them sit quietly for as long as they can. It is in that quiet space that provides the silence needed to listen.

What is your body sharing with you today?
